Revelation 7–11: The Kingdom of Our Lord & of His Christ

Read the Bible in 2011Week 50: Friday

Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were
loud voices in heaven, saying,

“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”

And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying,

“We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign. And the nations were enraged, and Your wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”
Revelation 11:15–18

Friday’s Bible reading is Revelation 7–11. The words of the loud voices in heaven are sung in the “Hallelujah” chorus from Handel’s Messiah, proclaiming this wonderful truth—that the Lord Jesus will reign triumphant forever and ever.

Through suffering, persecution and death God will keep His own; the nations will know the wrath of His righteous judgment: Revelation reverberates with the power and majesty of God.

As you read through Revelation keep its tremendous truths in mind and ask God to comfort and encourage your heart with the sure and certain hope we have in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ….

“…who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.”
1 Peter 1:3, 13, 21

Think on these truths, and in these times hold fast to our hope, the anchor of our soul.

I’ll be posting two videos of the “Hallelujah” chorus from Handel’s Messiah on Christmas Day.
